According to the official statement, the training was part of the Pacific Fleet’s operations. Before the missile launch, the submarine’s crew was reportedly transferred secretly to the designated area, demonstrating the strategic protocols adopted by the Russian Navy.

Two targets hit with precision
The exercise featured two launches: the first struck a surface target, while the second hit a land target located at the Surkum tactical range in the Khabarovsk region — over 1,000 kilometers away. The operation was supported by Pacific Fleet warships, naval aviation aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
In the video released by the Russian Ministry of Defense, two “Kalibr-PL” missiles can be seen being launched consecutively from underwater during daylight hours. The footage also shows one of the missiles making a direct hit on the designated land target.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyev, congratulated the crew of the Ufa submarine on the successful missile launch.
About the Ufa Submarine
The Ufa submarine was officially commissioned into the Russian Navy on November 16, 2022. In December 2024, it arrived in Vladivostok — the main base of the Pacific Fleet — after sailing through the Southern Sea Route.
It is the fourth of six Project 636.3 submarines built for the Pacific Fleet. These submarines are known for their balance of stealth and target detection range and are equipped with advanced torpedo and missile systems — notably the high-precision Kalibr cruise missiles, which form their primary offensive capability.
